McNichols Co. — Seven Decades of Hole Products

Founded in 1952, McNichols has grown from a single warehouse in Tampa to the largest stocking distributor of hole products, bar grating, and wire mesh in North America.

Built on the Principle That Every Hole Has a Purpose

In 1952, the McNichols family opened a small metal service center in Tampa, Florida with a single thesis: contractors and engineers shouldn't have to wait weeks for basic hole products. They stocked what others wouldn't, cut to spec on site, and shipped the same day.

That philosophy hasn't changed. Today, McNichols operates 19 service centers from Tampa to Los Angeles, stocking over 15,000 SKUs of steel bar grating, fiberglass grating, wire mesh, perforated metal, expanded metal, and stair treads. Every service center carries deep inventory and operates its own fabrication shop.

We serve structural engineers specifying grating for billion-dollar petrochemical complexes, procurement managers at municipal water utilities, architects designing perforated metal sunscreens, and maintenance teams needing one panel of replacement grating by Thursday. We treat every order as specification-critical, because in our business, an out-of-spec grating panel means a safety deficiency on a real job site.

McNichols is family owned and family operated. Decisions are made by people who know the product, know the standards, and know that technical accuracy matters more than marketing language.

No Minimums on Stocked Items

Order one panel or one thousand panels. McNichols does not impose minimum order quantities on in-stock products. Custom fabrication minimums are discussed at quoting.

Mill-Certified Test Reports

Every coil, sheet, and bar we stock carries certified mill test reports (CMTR) documenting chemistry and mechanical properties. Critical infrastructure and government projects routinely require CMTR — we have them.

Technical Application Support

Our product specialists read load tables, interpret ASTM standards, and understand the difference between a 1-3/16″ × 3/16″ bearing bar and a 1-1/4″ × 3/16″ bearing bar. When your spec is complex, call us.
